Mise en Scene- Analysis

YOU!

Setting:
The setting is in a book store, this has connotation of quietness and a calm setting which is usually somewhere safe and secure.
It is a place you wouldn't associate with  danger or people like the main character who is a stalker. It has dark lighting around the main character which represents a dark and mysterious. The light is always on the lady who he stalks whilst you see him in the background watching over her as the light is purposely on an angle to see the stalkiness' in him. 

Costume, Hair and Make-up:

The mans hair is a bit messy and its dark which has connotations of intelligence as he thinks fast and immediate. It also has connotations of dark hair and brown eyed people as being calm and collective as they don't panic or over think they just do what their instincts kick in to do. 

The woman, however is blond which has connotations as dumb or not as intelligent or in this case she is very oblivious to what is happening in front of her, its almost like she doesn't want to realise what's actually happening in her life. 

Facial expression and body language:

The main character was always on edge like he was ready for something else to happen and his facial expression is laid back but looks focused on what he has to do next so he doesn't lose the woman. However the woman looks calm and not worried. She also looks oblivious and ditsy which makes her an easy target for him. 

Positioning:

The man is always stood further back or behind the woman. He also is stood behind a bookshelf which shows he is watching her every second of the day so he knows exactly was going on in her life. The man is purposely positioned behind the woman so that the camera  angle makes you focus on the woman and see the man in the distance so it shows he is watching or stalking her. 

Colour:

The man is always in dark colours which show mysterious and dangerous and therefore makes the audience know how scary he is. Also the dark colours will suggest that when he kills people, people wont be able to see blood on the cloths and it also suggests that he's hiding something. 

The features above show that the genre should be a horror as for some audience, it can be scary as people find it terrifying as the guy in the book store could really be anyone which scares people and make them feel like they are being watched themselves when they are watching the tv series. The female characters are meant to be fragile and oblivious to what's happening with the main character (the man). The main character is meant to look terrifying and suspicious as something doesn't seem right about him.
